HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions are chasing their second victory in four days over local rivals Sheffield Tigers at Owlerton tonight (7.30pm).

Scorpions defeated their big-city rivals with a 49-41 victory at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Sunday, sealed by two 5-1s in the final two races.

Tonight is the first of two away meetings in two days for Scorpions, who are also in action at Peterborough in Knockout Cup action on Friday evening.

The meeting sees a switch in Scorpions’ line-up, due to the issue of new averages. Finnish star Tero Aarnio moves up to No, 2, while Carl Wilkinson (pictured) moves in the opposite direction, down to the reserve position.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey says: “Sunday’s win over Sheffield was a massive boost to us, because we know that they ride the Eddie Wright Raceway so well. Our riders put in a terrific performance to defeat them.

“It was the first time we’ve beaten the Tigers since 2015. It was a great feeling, and one it would be fabulous to experience again tonight!”

Expected teams for tonight:

Sheffield Tigers: 1. Josh Grajczonek, 2. Todd Kurtz, 3. Lasse Bjerre, 4. Josh Bates, 5. Kyle Howarth, 6. Josh Pickering (guest), 7. Jack Smith (guest).

Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Michael Palm Toft (captain), 2. Tero Aarnio, 3. Lewis Kerr, 4. Ryan Douglas, 5. Josh Auty, 6. Carl Wilkinson, 7. Chris Widman (guest).
