Scorpions after Redcar booster

HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions travel to Redcar tonight (Thursday, 7.30pm) in search of picking up much-needed SGB Championship points against the Bears.

It represents the start of a busy period for Scorpions, who are also at Newcastle on Sunday, before entertaining the Diamonds in the return clash in a double-header at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Bank Holiday Monday (3pm) – a 33-heat festival of speedway that also incorporates the 500cc and 250cc classes of the British Youth Championship.

Skipper Michael Palm Toft is expected to return tonight from a ‘flu bug.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey says: “Redcar won at our place earlier in the season, and we’ll go there tonight to see if we can repay the compliment.

“It’s a former home track for both Josh Auty and Carl Wilkinson, while Tero Aarnio likes the place and it’s a big bonus to go there with him at reserve.”
