HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions are seeking a confidence-building victory, as they host British Champion Danny King and the rest of the Ipswich Witches at the Eddie Wright Raceway later today (Sunday, 5.30pm).

Finnish star Tero Aarnio is set to make his first appearance for Scorpions since 2012. Aarnio initially comes in as the temporary replacement for broken collarbone victim Stefan Nielsen. Meanwhile, Ryan Douglas returns after a week out with concussion.

Scorpions’ owner Rob Godfrey says: “There’s an adage in speedway, as in all sport, that you’re only as good  as your last result.

“One good result can restore the confidence within the team, and it’s a pivotal time for us, since we will be action four times in the next nine days.

“It’s true that this season hasn’t gone exactly as we’ve planned so far. There has been a few reasons for that – the injuries we’re suffered certainly haven’t helped.

“We should have a full strength team which will be the first time for a while and we need to show Ipswich what we are about.

“There’s going to be some thrilling action – I have no doubt of that. Quite often, our home clashes against Witches have been pulsating affairs.”

There are 21 heats of action in total, including a six-heat second half Midland Development League match between Scunthorpe Stags and Milton Keynes Knights.
