Hi Richard,

The reason I’m contacting you is that I wanted to thank Scunthorpe Speedway through your good self.

I’ve been watching my chosen sport since 1968 and I have to say that last night (the British Semi-Final at Scunthorpe) was one of the most special and brilliant nights of racing I’ve ever seen and believe me, I’ve seen many. Plus it was run smoothly and no time wasting between races. As it was bloody freezing last night, it was much appreciated, so thanks to the ref and staff for that.

When I come to your place I stand with a couple from York, Tara and Paul and their young son Reece. Last night they brought some Spanish friends, whose sons attend the same school as theirs. As Tara & Paul don’t speak Spanish, I was overjoyed to translate for them, as I lived in Spain over 30 years ago for 10 months. Though not fluent, I get by. (Tara & Paul were gobsmacked, as they never knew of my latent talent).

So my only complaint is this! As it was Antonio and Maria’s first taste of speedway, they were spoilt rotten by the action of last night, and watching at lesser tracks than yours will be an anti-climax!

Richard, please could you thank Rob Godfrey and all concerned at Scunthorpe Speedway for a job well done and for being the best track for exciting racing in the land. Brilliant doesn’t do it justice. Once more, my eternal thanks.
