Five out of five for youth meetings

Winners Pit Bike Class – Lee Carter, Skye Adams and Stuart Foster

Sunday saw the fifth round of the Scunthorpe Speedway Winter Series take place for the youth speedway plus Flat Track and Pit Bike classes. It means that, despite one round having to be rescheduled because of the weather, the first five rounds have all taken place, with the series finale set for Sunday 28th February. Two of the six classes saw Winter Series champions crowned with Harry McGurk winning his fourth round to claim the youth 125/150cc title and Lee Carter claiming the pit bike crown despite being pipped into second place by Skye Adams on the day.

Adams’ victory was courtesy of fastest heat winning time after the pair had each won three races and finished second in the other three. Adams also won the Flat Track Class with a dominant six win display whilst other class winners were Sam Bebee (Youth 500), Jason Edwards (Youth 250) and Teddy Wilkinson (Junior 110).
Next weekend (Sunday 14th) sees the fifth round of the adult speedway classes with a high quality turnout expected due to the new season being only a month away. After the youth, pit bike and flat track classes are joined by new road bike and quad bike classes on 28th February the adult winter series will conclude on 6th March. However, six dates are already in place for the club’s 9th Summer Championship.

The summer meetings, for all twelve classes, will take place on Sunday 1st May, Saturday 21st May, Saturday 18th June, Sunday 31st July, Sunday 28th August and Sunday 25th September and it should be noted that it is free for people to spectate at all amateur meetings.
