SCUNTHORPE-BORN Tai Woffinden, who started his British career with the Scorpions in 2006, has been on a crest of a wave recently.

The 24-year-old won his third successive British Final at Wolverhampton on Monday, the latest in a list of dazzling successes.  Woffinden is the current world championship leader, having won the last round in Prague, and he scored an untroubled 21-point maximum for Great Britain in the Race-Off of the recent World Cup.

Meanwhile, Carl Wilkinson has gained praise from Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey for his battling performance in the British Final.  Wilko scored 7 points, just two points shy of reaching the semi-finals, and finished ninth in the meeting.

Godfrey says: “Well done to Wilko.  He did us proud.”
