ELLIE ROSE TRAVEL Scunthorpe Scorpions are involved in back-to-back away fixtures at Edinburgh and Berwick this weekend, as their season starts to draw to a close.

Scorpions travel to Edinburgh’s Armadale stadium tonight (Friday), in a fixture that commences at 7.30pm, before moving onto Berwick tomorrow evening (Saturday) at 7pm. Scorpions are due to be at full strength for both meetings.

While it’s not mathematically impossible for currently sixth-placed Scorpions to reach the play-offs, the concentration is more on avoiding finishing towards the bottom of the Cab Direct Championship.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “It’s more about pride now and making sure we don’t finish bottom of the table. We’re in a decent position to take the aggregate bonus point at Berwick with a ten-point lead, while Edinburgh won at our Eddie Wright Raceway and we’d love to return the compliment.

“The lads set out to win every meeting and that’s what we’ll do this weekend, and also for the home and away meetings against Redcar in a few weeks’ time.”

For those who cannot make it to Edinburgh, the British Speedway Network (BSN) are streaming the meeting at: https://watch.britishspeedway.co.uk/
