KENT KINGS 69 SCUNTHORPE STAGS 23 (NATIONAL LEAGUE)

HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Stags came out of one of their toughest meetings of the season with a 23-69 loss at Kent last night (Monday).

Kent’s side has a wealth of experience. The closest that the Stags came to defeating one of the Kings’ star men was Heat 11, when Arron Mogridge (pictured) fell while leading that race, in front of David Mason.

Stags’ boss Richard Hollingsworth said: “We knew this was going to be a tough meeting for the lads.

“All our lads worked hard to master the track. It was a shame Arron Mogridge fell leading Heat 11, otherwise we could have taken a 5-2 in that race. He was riding a blinder until he came down.

“Four of our riders compete in the individual meeting at Redcar on Thursday, and then we have another five meetings in the next three weeks. It’s good for the riders to get in plenty of meetings.”

KENT 69: Ben Morley 17+1, David Mason 14+4, Benji Compton 14+1, Aaron Baseby 11+4, Danny Ayres 9, Jason Garrad, 4+1, Simon Lambert R/R, Adam Sheppard (No 8) DNR.
SCUNTHORPE 23: Steven Jones 6, Sam Chapman 4, Reece Downes 3+1, Ryan MacDonald 3+1, Arron Mogridge 3, Danno Verge 3, Jack Hall 1.
