Opening test for Scorpions tonight

ATTIS INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions take to the track as a team for the first time this season in a league fixture at Leicester tonight (Saturday, 7pm).

Scunthorpe No 1 Ryan Douglas (pictured) will be relishing the return to Leicester, his home track in 2021. The Australian has been in superb early season form winning the both Josh Auty testimonial at Scunthorpe’s Eddie Wright Raceway and the Ben Fund Bonanza at Peterborough.

Scorpions have another 2021 Lion in their line-up in the shape of Zaine Kennedy, who could prove a trump card at reserve.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey has high hopes for the season.

Speedway Star’s excellent pre-season preview edition is now on sale and Godfrey revealed to the magazine: “For me, anything less than the play-offs this year, I will see as a disappointment. I think we’ve got to be aiming for top two; people might say I’m talking rubbish, but I don’t think so.”

The first home meeting for Scunthorpe is against Leicester is on Good Friday (April 15th, 5pm).
