Reece back in style
SCUNTHORPE STAGS 26 COVENTRY STORM 64 (NATIONAL LEAGUE)
HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Stags lost 26-64 to a very powerful Coventry Storm outfit at the Eddie Wright Raceway yesterday (Bank Holiday Monday).
The Stags were not helped by a Heat 3 accident, which led to Danno Verge pulling out of the meeting with a blow to the head.
The home side continued to battle throughout, despite the disparity in scoreline. A positive for the Stags was the return of 15-year-old Reece Downes, out since the first meeting of the season with a wrist injury. Downes scored 7 from 5 rides, scoring in each outing.
Stags’ boss Richard Hollingsworth said: “It wasn’t our strongest performance but there were positives to come out it.
“Reece Downes did very well on his return from injury and scored in every outing.
“Sam Chapman learnt a lot about his bike set up today, while Arron Mogridge produced an excellent ride in Heat 15.
“Danno Verge took a bit of a blow to the head, but he’s going to be fine.”
