EXCITING SEASON AHEAD AT THE EDDIE WRIGHT RACEWAY

SCUNTHORPE SCORPIONS will start their 2021 home fixtures, with the visit of reigning champions Leicester Lions to the Eddie Wright Raceway on May 7th (start-time 7.30pm).

Six days earlier, on May 1st, Scorpions will be one of the very first teams to take to action, when visit border club Berwick in Championship action on the official opening day of the season.

There are plenty of mouth-watering fixtures to look forward to the Eddie Wright Raceway. Treble World Champion Jason Crump will make his first-ever visit to the North Lincolnshire track on Friday, May 21st, with his club Plymouth, who have moved up to the Championship in 2021.

Meanwhile, speedway giants Poole Pirates will first the Eddie Wright Raceway for the first-time ever on Friday, July 23rd. Pirates have won the top-flight no fewer than ten times – and have never ridden against Scunthorpe in an official fixture… until now!

Leicester will also provide the opposition to Scorpions in the Knockout Cup, with the two clubs clashing in the second round of the competition.

Every Friday home meeting will take place at 7.30pm. The start-time of the two Sunday meetings, against Glasgow and Edinburgh, will be confirmed in due course.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey is really looking forward to the season ahead.

He said: “There will be so much to look forward to this season. I can’t wait, especially after the absence of a league programme in 2020.

“We start with a bang with the visit of Leicester, the reigning champions, while we also have the first-ever visit of the mighty Poole Pirates to Scunthorpe Speedway.

“Kent are also newcomers to our league and have never met our senior side, while we welcome Plymouth back to the Championship, and they’ve got two incredible signings in Jason Crump, a three-time World Champion, and Bjarne Pedersen and that’s going to be a mouth-watering meeting.

“It’s going to be such an exciting season, with so many highlights.”
