Line-up complete for Josh Auty testimonial

JOSH AUTY has completed the line-up to his testimonial meeting with a trio of riders – Kyle Howarth, Josh Bates and, of course, Auty himself! The meeting will take place at Scunthorpe’s Eddie Wright Raceway on Sunday, March 22nd at 3pm.

The full line-up looks fantastic. It includes nine Englishmen, including three British Champions: reigning champion Charles Wright, plus former winners Chris Harris and Danny King. The event also has a truly international flavour, with five Australians, one American and one Dane also due to compete.

No fewer than four Scorpions are on display – Jake Allen, Thomas Jorgensen, Simon Lambert and Josh himself.

Auty said of his final additions: “I think I did two Australian tours with Kyle Howarth and we got on really well. We had some good fun in Australia but when you come back and kind of get into the British season, you can go your separate ways with everything a little bit.

“I think he’s moved down to Swindon now and he doesn’t live where I live anymore, so I don’t see him quite so much.

“Kyle is a top guy at Championship level, as well as winning a championship with Wolverhampton in the top-flight.

“There’s a healthy rivalry between us – we’ve had some terrific battles with him on track at Scunthorpe and at Sheffield in the past.

“Meanwhile, I’m delighted to have Josh Bates in the line-up, because he’s a fellow Yorkshireman.

“Prior to the injuries he suffered, he was making steady progress in the sport – he’s been unlucky with injuries, but he’s an up-and-coming rider and still got plenty of time to make his mark in speedway.”

The meeting represents excellent value for money, with 23 heats on display for the usual admission prices at Scunthorpe, plus also a number of British Youth races in addition, which will take place before the main meeting, with the plan to start these at around 1pm.

Admission is £16 adults, £14 student / OAP, £5 children aged 10-17 and Under 10s go free. A family ticket for two adults and two children aged 10-17 is available for £37.
