Josh Auty confirmed for Ben Fund Bonanza

SCUNTHORPE SCORPIONS’ No 1 Josh Auty has been confirmed in the line-up for the season-opening Ben Fund Bonanza at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Saturday, March 14th (2pm).

The organisers of the event have been hard at work and have announced the first three riders for the prestigious meeting.

Alongside Auty are former Scorpion Nick Morris and Morris’ Wolverhampton team-mate Jacob Thorssell.

This traditional fund-raising event will be held for the 11th time with more money set to be raised for injured and disabled riders through the brilliant Speedway Riders’ Benevolent Fund.

Fan favourite Auty will race just eight days before his testimonial meeting at the same venue the following week on Sunday, March 22.

He said: “I’ve started my season as early as March 14th before, so I will be prepared and ready for the challenge. I’m really happy that the Ben Fund are putting together such a competitive line-up.

“I’m really happy to support the event and would encourage more riders to get involved. All the people who are on the committee at the Ben Fund do it voluntarily and for that they have all my respect.

“I don’t think I’ll be doing much promoting for my testimonial on the day of the Ben Fund Meeting, because all my focus will be on trying to win it.”

Nick Morris said: “I’m looking forward to riding in the Ben Fund meeting. It’s a great meeting to start the season and a great way to raise money for the injured riders.

“I haven’t spent too much time on the bike back home, so it will be good to get on a bike again and prepare for what will be another busy season for me.”
