SCORPIONS LOOK TO BRING DOWN THE MONARCHY!

HEB Scunthorpe Scorpions are looking for a revenge victory, when they entertain Edinburgh Monarchs at the Eddie Wright Raceway tomorrow (Sunday, 5.30pm).

Scorpions went down by 37-53 at Armadale Stadium in Scotland on Friday evening, despite a fine 12-point tally from Danny Ayres.

Sunday’s meeting will mark Ayres’ first return to the Eddie Wright Raceway since his ‘bucking bronco’ heroics at the British Final at Belle Vue last Monday, when he dared to ride the extreme edge of the dirt on the outside.

His efforts gained a standing ovation from a large crowd in Manchester and thrilled TV viewers, and the fans at Scunthorpe are likely to also want to show their appreciation for the battler from Suffolk.

The meeting will also see the quick return of dashing Dane Rasmus Jensen. Jensen was the match-winner for Glasgow Tigers at the EWR last week, and he guests for Edinburgh’s unavailable No 1 Sam Masters.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey says: “It promises to be another cracking meeting against the Edinburgh Monarchs.

“Of course, we’re after a bit of redemption after we lost at Edinburgh on Friday night, plus the lads we will keen to get the better of Rasmus Jensen this time around. He rides our track absolutely superbly, no matter how we prepare it, and this is another opportunity to see him locking horns with our top riders.

“I’m sure Danny will get a huge welcome after his efforts in the British Final at Belle Vue. His final race in Heat 19, when he was riding the dirt and then somehow kept onboard his bike and was riding it like a bucking bronco, has gone viral on the internet.

“I’m sure a few people will come along for the first time to see Danny in action, and the good news for them is the racing at our own Eddie Wright Raceway is also red hot.”

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please note that Sunday’s meeting against Edinburgh starts at 5.30pm, which is an hour earlier than against Glasgow last week. Please make sure you’re at the EWR for 5.30pm!
