Jake Allen returns for Scorpions
HEB Scunthorpe Scorpions’ skipper Jake Allen makes his return to action in the away match at Sheffield’s Owlerton Stadium later today (Sunday, 5.30pm).
Allen has been out of action with shoulder ligament damage, since an injury sustained at Ipswich on May 16th, but is now fit to return.
However, Jason Garrity sustained a broken hand in a crash during Friday’s British Semi-Final at Redcar, and he will now have to spend a spell on the sidelines. Sheffield’s Kyle Howarth was also injured in the same accident and he is also ruled of today’s meeting.
Ex-Scorpion Ryan Douglas, who was originally booked to cover for Allen, will now replace Garrity at Sheffield.
Meanwhile, Alfie Bowtell will ride in place of Josh Bailey at No 7.
Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “We’ve already pushed Sheffield close at their place once this season, and we realise this is an opportunity for an away victory, and that’s what we’re aiming for.
“Sheffield are our nearest away track, so we are hoping that plenty of fans will make the journey down to Owlerton and get behind the lads.”
Expected teams for today:
Sheffield Tigers: 1. Danny King, 2. Kasper Andersen, 3. Ty Proctor, 4. Drew Kemp, 5. Todd Kurtz (guest), 6. Broc Nicol, 7. Zaine Kennedy.
