FLUIDAIR POWER Scunthorpe Scorpions face a tough test at unbeaten Edinburgh tonight (Friday, 7.30pm).

The Monarchs have won eight of eight meetings so far in 2014, including a very impressive away win at highly-fancied Workington.

The Scorpions have booked Glasgow’s Theo Pijper, a former Monarch, as a guest for injured No 1 Anders Mellgren, while Workington’s Mason Campton comes in at reserve in place of Thomas Jorgensen, who is competing in the Danish Championship.

With the issues of the new green sheet averages, Australian Ryan Douglas has moved out of reserve and he lines up at No 3 tonight.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “It’s is going to be a massively tough meeting as Edinburgh are the form team at the moment.

“But we have some riders who go well around their track, plus we’ve brought in two guests who are good performers around Armadale.

“We will go into the meeting with the aim to win it – we go into every meeting with that attitude. Edinburgh have got to lose at some point, so it might as well be to us!”

Teams for tonight:

Edinburgh Monarchs: 1. Craig Cook, 2. Justin Sedgmen, 3. Max Fricke, 4. Derek Sneddon, 5. Sam Masters, 6. Aaron Fox, 7. Steve Worrall.

FluidAir Power Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1.Theo Pijper (guest), 2. David Howe, 3. Ryan Douglas, 4. Ashley Birks, 5. Josh Auty, 6. Matt Williamson, 7. Mason Campton (guest).

* There’s still a possibility that Scorpions may have a new signing in place in time for Monday’s return fixture with the Monarchs at the Eddie Wright Raceway (3pm)

*The Sheffield vs Scunthorpe Premier League clash will now take place on Thursday, May 15 (at 7.45pm). It has been moved back seven days from its original date of May 8, to accommodate the Sheffield vs Berwick KO Cup match on that date.
