Henderson Insurance back Stags project
JUST a month after the Scunthorpe Stags made their National League debut, the club’s commitment to youth development has seen them attract a main team sponsor. Henderson Insurance Broking Group, who were the main team sponsors to the Scunthorpe Scorpions for seven years, approached the club and the Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Stags are now born.
Commenting on the news, Stags’ club chairman Richard Hollingsworth said: “The support we are getting is just incredible. This just adds further strength to the project and I can’t thank Joe Henderson and the Henderson group enough.
“Joe Henderson is delighted we are giving youngsters the chance to break into the sport and also really pleased that we are seeing local riders come through the system.
“Of course, Wayne Carter should take a lot of the credit with his sessions on both tracks and Liam Sanderson is obviously the most recent product of the system, but there will be more to come.
“Then there is Stuart Parnaby, who is another fantastic servant worth his weight in gold to the club, with all the help and guidance he gives in the pits.
“This sponsorship from the Henderson Insurance Group just means we can do just that little bit more without fear of busting our budget. This is year one of the project and it is very early days. This needs to be a long term project because the returns will increase as we carry on.
“Our current crop of prospects will develop over time and then we will continue to look out for quality additions. Eventually, we will not only have a team brimming with potential, but one that can compete with the other teams in the National League.
“For now, we will keep giving riders track time, keep giving them as much help and encouragement as possible and hopefully show the league what can be done with a little imagination.”
Henderson Insurance Broking Group was formed 28 years ago and operates from 10 offices in the UK and will exceed £200m premium spend in the current financial year. They have specialist teams operating across all sectors and in areas such as professional risks, healthcare, risk management and construction bonds.
The Scunthorpe Stags’ next meeting, at home to the Devon Demons, is on Bank Holiday Monday (May 5), following the Scunthorpe Scorpions vs Edinburgh Monarchs Premier League meeting (start-time 3pm), whilst anyone wanting information on club’s amateur meetings should contact Richard Hollingsworth via richard@scunthorpespeedway.com or 07832-402167.
