Photos from Scorpions vs Sheffield

IT’S A FORTNIGHT since the last action at the Eddie Wright Raceway.  As a reminder, here’s heat-by-heat action from our cracking 49-41 victory over local rivals Sheffield Tigers, with photos taken by official track photographer Alex Summerfield.  Please pop up to the track today (Sunday) for Scorpions vs Berwick Bandits, where the racing is highly likely to be just as good.

Heat 1: Carl Wilkinson holds off Todd Kurtz for second place. Race-winner Josh Grajzconek is out of shot.

Heat 2: David Wallinger (blue) makes a good start in Heat 2.  It’s Tero Aarnio (red) who would come through for the victory, after passing Rob Branford.

Heat 3: Lewis Kerr (red) holds off Josh Bates (yellow) to start with a victory.

Heat 4: Josh Auty and David Wallinger in second and third places.  Wallinger fell on the final bend, and would pick up a knock.

Heat 5: A confidence-boasting win for Ryan Douglas, ahead of the Scrabble Man.

Heat 6: Michael Palm Toft battling it out with Kyle Howarth in first running of the race.

Heat 7: Lasse Bjerre pushes Tero wide, resulting in a 5-1 for Tigers.

Heat 8: Wilko ahead of Todd Kurtz and Tero.

Heat 9: Lewis out in front.  Kyle Howarth pushes Ryan wide on the way through into second, but Ryan regained control to keep hold of third.

Later in Heat 9: Lewis on his way to becoming the first Scorpion to beat Howarth at the EWR in 2017.

Heat 10: MPT holds off Bjerre.

Heat 11: Josh Auty passes Todd Kurtz to take over the lead.

Heat 12: Lewis Kerr & Tero Aarnio pack the minor places.

Heat 13: Josh comes through a non-existent gap in great style. Sadly he suffered an engine failure, and a 3-3 turned into a 5-1 for Sheffield.

Heat 14: Ryan & Tero make the start, as Scorpions take a vital 5-1.

Heat 15 re-run: A very close start. Lewis just has the edge.

Later in Heat 15: Josh cuts back under Kyle Howarth, to regain second.  Scorpions take a 5-1, while Tigers return home pointless.
