HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions are looking to register their first victory in five weeks when they host Workington Comets at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Sunday (6.30pm).

Scunthorpe are much more competitive than earlier in the season, but have seen victory slip though their fingers in their last two home meetings, being pipped by Edinburgh (44-45) and Somerset (43-47).

Scorpions suffered a number of knocks at Ipswich last Thursday, but are hoping to be back up to full strength on Sunday.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “We’ve been very close in our last couple of home meetings, but we’ve just missed out on both occasions.

“It’s been tremendous racing around the Eddie Wright Raceway, but that’s only part of the equation. The big thing is to win the meetings.

“We need to make sure we close out the meeting on Sunday, and come out with a victory. I feel that’s the least that our efforts of recent weeks deserve.”
