Josh Auty Action

JOSH AUTY, the skipper of Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions, put in a fighting performance in the British Final at Belle Vue yesterday evening (Monday).

Auty won his opening outing, and was then involved in some typical close action – no more so than in Heat 10, when he fought to second place ahead of Steve Worrall and Jason Garrity.

The Yorkshireman could still qualify for the semi-finals with a win in Heat 20, and hit the front, only to be overhauled by Danny King and Richard Hall in a thrilling battle.

Auty finished eighth on 8 points, just a couple of points off from qualifying from the semi-finals.

King eventually won his first British Championship, after rounding Craig Cook in spectacular style in the final.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “Well done to Josh Auty, because he’s not been his usual self recently, and hopefully having a good British Final will give his confidence a timely boost.

“It’s pretty clear that we’ve been struggling as a team in the last few weeks, so if one of our riders has turned his own personal corner, maybe that can rub off on the whole team. We really need to kick on and beat Rye House at the Eddie Wright Raceway this coming Sunday.”

Scunthorpe’s Lewis Kerr was a non-riding reserve last night.
