HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions have been hit by the blow that recent Danish signing Andreas Lyager has been forced to quit the club with immediate effect.

18-year-old Lyager has informed the Scunthorpe management that: “I am so sorry to announce this, but I have been forced to quit in UK immediately, and will not be able to race for Scunthorpe or any other clubs in UK.

“When I got home Saturday, there was a letter from my employer, where I am in learning. I only have one year left, and I would like to finish my apprenticeship; if I cannot race any more, then I [need to] have an education to fall back on.

“My employer will not allow me to have so much time off from work and school. Therefore I will not be racing in UK until after summer 2017.

“I do not have any choice; I need my education, and [my employer] simply will not allow me to do it with so many days off.

“Please try to understand; I am so sorry. I really want the best for Scunthorpe and you. Thanks for all your help and kindness; I truly hope to see you again.”

Scorpions are seeking a replacement for Lyager.
