HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions host Peterborough Panthers next Monday (2pm) in vital Premier League action – in a Bank Holiday feast of action at the Eddie Wright Raceway.

The venue has served up some thrilling action in recent weeks, with an astounding British Semi-Final followed by an enthralling derby clash with Sheffield, that the visitors eventually won by 49-43.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey realises the importance of the fixture. “We need to win and take the points”, he stressed. “We dropped three points at home to Sheffield, and we don’t want to drop anymore. The bottom line is that we must beat Peterborough and start climbing the table.

“We got turned over by Peterborough in the League Cup, but both teams have changed their line-ups since then. I’m sure Michael Palm Toft will be out to prove a point against the Panthers, after they recently released him from their line-up.”

The Bank Holiday fixture is a double-header, also containing the second part to Round 2 of the British Youth Championship, with the 250cc and 125cc classes on display. Early indications are that there are at least 25 entrants across those two classes, meaning a 27-race second half, and bringing the total numbers of races on the day to at least 42. The adult admission price is just £17 for at least 42 races.

The Scunthorpe vs Peterborough meeting kicks off the afternoon at 2pm, an hour earlier than the usual start-time for Bank Holiday meetings at the EWR. This is to accommodate Peterborough, who also have a home fixture later the same day.
