Scunthorpe hold prices for British Semi-Final

SCUNTHORPE are holding their usual Premier League admission prices for the British Semi-Final at the Eddie Wright Raceway next Friday (May 13), despite there being five extra races on offer.

It will cost just £15 for an adult to watch the top-class 20-heat-individual, which sees 16 riders doing battle, with only the top seven guaranteed a place in the British Final at Belle Vue in Manchester on June 13.

It’s the biggest meeting at the Eddie Wright Raceway for five years, with a top quality line-up headed by Grand Prix star Chris Harris.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “The British semi-final at Scunthorpe represents truly outstanding value. It’s such a good and tough line-up, and competition is going to be intense, with just the top seven assured of going through.

“It’s going to be some night. It’s a rare chance to see Chris ‘Bomber’ Harris in action around the Eddie Wright Raceway. I’m sure many of our supporters will have watched his exploits on the TV, riding in the Grand Prix in Poland and Sweden and Italy and elsewhere. Now they can see him at the track just down the road.

“Plus there’s so many good riders in the line-up. We saw how well Robert Lambert went around the Eddie Wright Raceway just a week ago, he’s some talent, while Simon Stead heads a list of five Sheffield Tigers’ riders, so we’re hoping to see many of our friends from Sheffield on the terraces on Friday.

“And of course, there’s three members of our very own Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions in the line-up. I’m sure our fans will get right behind Josh (Auty), Wilko (Carl Wilkinson) and Ash (Morris) in their quest for a British Final place.

“Nights like this don’t come along often, and it promises to be something rather special; a top class line-up around the best racing track in the country”, Godfrey concluded.
