07. Zdenek celebrates first scorpions ht win

HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions will cross the Scottish border tomorrow afternoon (Sunday) to face the powerful-looking Glasgow Tigers in a Premier League encounter at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium.

A change in riding order sees Czech international Zdenek Holub (pictured) drop from No 4 to No 6, with Ashley Morris moving in the opposite direction.

Holub has now competed in enough meetings to gain a real average. Having scored 23 points from 31 rides, his average is marked up from 2.97 to 3.00.

A rule has been brought in this season, whereby foreign riders new to British Speedway starting on an assessed average of 8.00, 7.00 or 5.00 cannot drop below 5.00. However, Holub is not a new rider this season, having signed for the Scorpions in August 2015 and been continuously in Scunthorpe’s declared 1-7 since then.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “The away meeting at Glasgow is going to be one of our toughest Premier League meetings of the season, no doubt.

“Last week, they demolished a strong Peterborough side by 62-30 around their place. But then you look a further week back, and Redcar only lost by 12 points at Glasgow, so the Tigers are not completely infallible at home.

“We’ve got to keep it close, hang in there, and see where we are at the end of the meeting.”

Expected teams for tomorrow:

Glasgow Tigers: 1. Richard Lawson, 2. Nike Lunna, 3. Richie Worrall, 4. Ben Barker, 5. Aaron Summers, 6. Fernando Garcia. 7. Danny Ayres.

Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Josh Auty, 2. Carl Wilkinson, 3. Alex Davies, 4. Ashley Morris, 5. Ryan Douglas, 6. Zdenek Holub, 7. Josh Bailey.
