Despite losing this MDL match the Stags can be proud of their performance as they were up against a strong Invaders team. It is fair to say that the scoreline flatters to deceive as George Rothery, poached from the fill-in races to complete the Invaders team, suffered two falls and then shed a chain in his last ride, all whilst in a comfortable scoring position. However, both the Invaders established National League riders, Layne Cupitt and Bradley Andrews, recorded maximums and with the contribution from Stephen Whitehouse, this was enough to see them home.
Looking at the Stags performance, Chris recorded three second places and pushed the Invaders all the way. He was razor-sharp from the gate and in Heat 3 he kept Layne Cupitt at bay for almost 3 laps before being passed. Luke and Sam both rode solidly to score 4+2 and 5+1 respectively whilst Ditchy had three good rides and was rewarded with 1+1. All four of our riders will have learned a great deal from this experience and it will be good to watch their progress throughout the year.
