Luke Harrison rewarded for championship success
SCUNTHORPE promoter Rob Godfrey is singing the praises of up-and-coming Scorpions mascot Luke Harrison following his success in the British Youth Cadet Grasstrack Championship last season.
Godfrey was called up to make a presentation to the local youngster last week after the eight-year-old St Barnabas Church of England Primary School pupil was given a £100 cheque for his school by the ACU to mark his trophy-winning achievement.
Godfrey said afterwards: “It just goes to show, it’s what we do at Scunny and we’re very proud that a local youngster like Luke is progressing in the sport. It’s great to see and I was pretty touched that they asked me to present the cheque.
“His dad Andy used to be in the Southern Track Riders’ for a long time but Luke has only really got into it in the last couple of years. The Harrisons were the family that took Nike Lunna in for us last season and looked after him.
“I’m really pleased for Luke and he’s one to watch in the future. I tried to do a deal with him the other day but he wouldn’t shake my hand on a fiver a point!”
