FLUIDAIR POWER Scunthorpe Scorpions, supported by Henderson Insurance, are determined to take a win from their home Premier League clash against the Newcastle Diamonds at the Eddie Wright Raceway this evening (Friday, 7.30pm) – despite the latest injury blow to hit the club.

Last night (Thursday) at Sheffield, Australian Ryan Douglas suffered a season-ending injury, sustaining a broken leg and a suspected dislocated hip.

The Scorpions will use rider replacement for him tonight, while Sheffield’s Josh Bates comes in as the guest for the injured Ben Wilson.

19-year-old Czech Republic young star Zdenek Holub – the replacement for yet another injured Scorpion, Josh Auty – will make his home debut for the Scorpions tonight.

Scorpions’ team manager Dave Peet said: “Everything seems set against us this season. But last night at Sheffield, the lads showed a lot of fighting spirit following Ryan’s withdrawal from the meeting.

“If we ride like that tonight, I reckon we can pull off the win we need to close up the gap on the teams above us. We don’t want to finish bottom.

“Newcastle have got problems of their own, and this is a meeting we can win.

“It’s going to be a hard-fought meeting, and the lads are going to need all the support they can get from our supporters. We need the fans right behind us tonight.”

A reminder that tonight sees the start of a special promotion, which will last to the end of the 2015 season, which sees all accompanied children under the age of 16 admitted for free to home Scorpions’ meetings.

Admission prices for tonight:
