FLUIDAIR POWER Scunthorpe Scorpions, supported by Henderson Insurance, have swooped to sign highly-talented Zdenek Holub for the rest of the 2015 season.

The 19-year-old rider from the Czech Republic, who rides for Marketa Prague, has been placing extremely well in under-21 events on the continent.

He has qualified for the European Under-21 Final, after winning his semi-final in Macon, France in June, finishing ahead of Lakeside’s Adam Ellis and Edinburgh’s Erik Riss, and will go for glory in the final in Silkeborg, Denmark on Saturday, August 29.

Holub has also won a couple of rounds of the 2015 Czech Republic Under-21 Championship, ahead of recent Swindon signing Eduard Krcmar.

He comes in on a 7.00 average, and will replace the injured Josh Auty (out for the rest of the season) in the Scorpions’ line-up.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “I’d like to thank the King’s Lynn management for their co-operation and help in bringing Zdenek Holub to Scunthorpe.

“He comes very highly recommended, and you only have to look at a few of his results on the continent to realise he’s a very talented young rider.

“It’s always exciting for the fans to see a new face, and I’m sure Zdenek will prove an instant hit with Scorpions’ supporters.”

Subject to BSPA approval, Holub is all set to make his first appearance for the Scorpions at Sheffield on Thursday evening, before making his home debut at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Friday for the visit of the Newcastle Diamonds (7.30pm).

A further signing, to replace the injured Ben Wilson, is set to be announced at noon next Monday (August 10).
