Jorgensen & Williamson in for Foxhall

CLUB ASSETS Thomas Jorgensen (pictured) and Matt Williamson will guest for the FluidAir Power Scunthorpe Scorpions, backed by Henderson Insurance, at Ipswich on Thursday (7.30pm) – after a frustrating and fruitless search for replacements for the injured pair of Josh Auty and Ben Wilson.

Auty (broken hand) and Wilson (broken pelvis) are both set to be ruled out for the rest of the season.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “I lost count of the number of riders I spoke with over the weekend, but none of them could commit to our final nine meetings.

“It’s so hard to bring in replacement riders at this stage of the season. You only have to look at the fact that Glasgow, with all their resources, have – with all due respect – recently signed Hynek Stichauer.  Making countless phone calls is not an enjoyable part of the job by any means.  It’s a real difficulty finding guests as well.

“Thomas Jorgensen has top scored at Ipswich for us in the past, and is good value around Foxhall Heath, while Matt Williamson will always give it his all for us.”

In the meantime, Scorpions’ young star Nike Lunna won his second successive Finnish Under-21 Championship at the weekend.
