FLUIDAIR POWER Scunthorpe Scorpions, supported by Henderson Insurance, have received a further injury blow, with the confirmation that Ben Wilson sustained a broken pelvis in an accident at Sheffield on Thursday evening.

The 29-year-old Yorkshireman was guesting for Cradley Heath in a challenge match at Owlerton, and had won his opening two outings, before crashing out in Heat 11.

Wilson’s injury comes hot on the heels of the news of Josh Auty’s broken hand.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “It’s a big blow for Ben, and we wish him a speedy recovery.

“We’re going to be without both Ben and Josh for the remainder of the season, and we’ll look at all the options for our remaining nine league meetings.”

In the meantime, it has been confirmed that Ipswich’s Rohan Tungate has been handed a 21-day-ban for the post-race incident with Auty at the Eddie Wright Raceway a week ago. Tungate ran into Auty after the conclusion of the race, and the Speedway Control Bureau concluded that Tungate’s version of events, given to the SCB referee on the night, did not match the video of the incident.
