Flyin’ Ryan could be back on Thursday for Scorpions
FLUIDAIR POWER Scunthorpe Scorpions, supported by Henderson Insurance, have received the boost that Ryan Douglas is almost ready to come back from injury… and that Josh Auty may not be far behind him in returning to the saddle.
21-year-old Australian Douglas has been out of action since suffering a small fracture to a vertebrae in a crash at the Eddie Wright Raceway on June 5, while Scorpions’ No 1 Auty suffered a broken hand on May 15.
Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “Ryan could possibly be back for our trip up to Redcar on Thursday evening. The final decision will be up to him, and can be left fairly late as we’re going to be using rider replacement for him, so it’s not like there’s a guest we need to notify.
“But there’s a chance that Ryan will decide to give it another week, and make his comeback in our next home meeting against Peterborough next Friday (July 10).
“Josh is also targeting his comeback for the Scorpions for the home clash against the Panthers, so fingers crossed, we will be tracking seven of our own riders on that night for the first time for what seems an age.”
It was actually April 19 that the Scorpions were last able to track seven of their own riders, without being forced to use a guest and/or rider replacement.
Scunthorpe asset Thomas Jorgensen will again come in to guest for the injured Auty for the visit to Redcar.
