A MEETING with plenty of added spice takes part at the Eddie Wright Raceway tonight (Friday, 7.30pm), as the FluidAir Power Scunthorpe Scorpions, supported by Henderson Insurance, take on a strong-looking Glasgow Tigers team.

Much of the interest will focus on the return of David Howe to the North Lincolnshire venue. Howe is now a Glasgow rider, and ironically his first meeting for the Tigers will be against the Scorpions, his club for the last seven seasons.

Howe stopped riding for the Scorpions in mid-April, after informing the Scunthorpe promotion he had aggravated a shoulder injury in an off-track accident. He signed for the big-spending Tigers at the start of the week, in place of broken leg victim Kozza Smith.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey says: “The Glasgow side for tonight does look exceptionally strong, but we will be approaching the meeting with a view to win it.

“We’ve taken fine victories from our last two home meetings, and we need to keep that momentum going, if at all possible.

“It’s going to be a complete humdinger of a meeting, I have no doubt about it, and we do need the crowd right behind us for this meeting.

“If there are any supporters out there who haven’t been along to the Eddie Wright Raceway for a while, then I urge them to come along tonight for what promises to be a hotly contested and absorbing evening of speedway.”

Nikolaj B. Jakobsen, the scorer of a fine paid 12 haul for Rye House at the Eddie Wright Raceway, will guest for the injured Josh Auty, while the Tigers bring in the in-form Nico Covatti, in place of James Sarjeant.

Admission prices for tonight:
