DAVE PEET, team manager of the FluidAir Power Scunthorpe Scorpions, supported by Henderson Insurance, insists the team will approach the Premier League fixture at Plymouth’s St. Boniface Arena tonight (Saturday, 7.15pm) in a “positive frame of mind”.

The Scorpions are still looking to register their first Premier League victory of the season.

Following Ipswich’s win at Redcar on Thursday night, the Scorpions have slipped to the foot of the league table. However, all three league points that the Scorpions have achieved have come away from home, and Peet is looking for the team to add to that number.

Ben Barker, a former Plymouth Devils’ No 1, will guest for the injured Josh Auty, who is currently missing with a broken hand.

Peet said: “Plymouth have strengthened this week by bringing in a quality rider in the shape of Todd Kurtz.

“But it’s the sort of place we have to look at and think ‘we can win there’.

“We’ve booked Ben Barker as a guest for Josh. Ben rode for the Devils last year so he should be good for double figures, and that will take the pressure off the rest of the lads.

“We will go down there tonight in a positive frame of mind.

“If we can get one win under our belt, I’m sure things will pick up.”

Both Ryan Douglas – returning from an injury to the tendons of his knee – and Ben Wilson made their seasonal debuts in the home defeat to Somerset Rebels on Bank Holiday Monday, and both will welcome the chance to get another competitive meeting under their belts.

Teams for tonight:

Plymouth Devils: 1. Kyle Newman, 2. Rider replacement for Jack Holder, 3. Todd Kurtz, 4. Morten Risager, 5. Ryan Fisher, 6. Sam Simota, 7. Matt Bates (guest for Sam Chapman).

FluidAir Power Scunthorpe Scorpions, supported by Henderson Insurance: 1. Ben Barker (guest for Josh Auty), 2. Theo Pijper, 3. Ryan Douglas, 4. Carl Wilkinson, 5. Alex Davies, 6. Ben Wilson, 7. Nike Lunna (pictured).
