FLUIDAIR POWER Scunthorpe Scorpions, supported by Henderson Insurance, are involved in what promoter Rob Godfrey insists is a “must win meeting” at the Eddie Wright Raceway tonight (Friday, 7.30pm), entertaining the Rye House Rockets in Premier League action.

The Scorpions have picked up three valuable away league points at Berwick and Rye House, but have lost their only home PL meeting to Edinburgh.

Godfrey explains: “The key to reaching the play-offs is winning at home, then picking up some points away.

“Tonight is a must win meeting for us, especially as we have a couple of tough trips to Glasgow and Somerset coming up.

“It’s going to a terrific night of racing. Rye House have some class performers such as Edward Kennett and Anders Mellgren, and there are going to be some great battles between them and Josh Auty, Alex Davies, Theo Pijper and Carl Wilkinson.

“But we need to finish the night with three points added to our account.”

David Howe (shoulder) and Ellis Perks (knee) are still on the sidelines, while Nike Lunna is away this weekend, riding in the Finnish Grand Prix at Tampere.

Rider replacement operates for Howe, while Redcar’s Rafal Konopka and Scunthorpe asset Matt Williamson come in at reserve for the Scorpions as guests.
