TAI WOFFINDEN LAUNCHES COUNTDOWN TO CARDIFF CHALLENGE FOR GREAT ORMOND STREET HOSPITAL CHILDREN’S CHARITY

SCUNTHORPE-BORN speedway star Tai Woffinden is calling on fans to join his #Countdown2Cardiff Challenge to raise funds to help young patients and families at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

The top 50 fundraisers will win the chance to join Tai to cycle a lap of the track at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium on 3 July 2015, the day before the British FIM Speedway Grand Prix. The 50 fans will also get to climb the winner’s podium to have their photo taken with Tai and other famous faces from the Speedway world.

The top three fundraisers will also win some incredible money-can’t-buy prizes, from paddock access before the race to a seat at the winner’s press conference or a day out jet skiing with Tai himself.

Fans can join #TeamTai by taking on any fundraising challenge they choose – from organising a quiz night or speedway sweepstake to taking inspiration from Tai’s race number and riding, running, walking or swimming 108 miles, selling 108 cakes at a bake sale or getting sponsored to give something up for 108 days.

Great Ormond Street Hospital is one of the world’s leading children’s hospitals, treating patients from across the UK, often for rare and complex conditions.

Tai Woffinden said: “Great Ormond Street Hospital is an amazing place. Last year I was lucky enough to visit the hospital and meet some of its extraordinary patients – that’s why this charity is so important to me. I’m really hoping all my fans will join the challenge and help me raise funds to help these young patients and their families.”

All the money raised will help fund an en suite bedroom in the new state-of-the-art Premier Inn Clinical Building. The new facilities will replace cramped, outdated wards in some of the hospital’s oldest buildings, providing more space, privacy and comfort for families, including space for a parent to sleep by their child’s bedside.

This is Tai’s second fundraising challenge for GOSH. Last year, thanks to the phenomenal support of Speedway fans, Tai raised over £84,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

Justine Trumper, Account Director at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, said: “We’re thrilled that Tai is launching a second fundraising challenge for the charity. We were overwhelmed by the incredible generosity of the Speedway community last year, and we hope Tai’s fans will get behind him once again. All the money raised will help us make a real difference for Great Ormond Street Hospital patients from across the UK.”
