Yes, it’s the Big Day, when the fund-raising meeting for Ricky Ashworth, takes place just down the road at Sheffield’s Owlerton Stadium.

Josh Auty, David Howe and Thomas Jorgensen are all amongst a field boosted by the addition of Danish superstars Niels-Kristian Iversen and Kenneth Bjerre in the last few days.

The meeting starts with the rider parade at 5pm, the stadium doors opening at 3.30pm.

Note on car parking:

BECAUSE a bumper crowd is expected on Sunday, special arrangements have been made for car parking – and it will give another fantastic boost to Ricky’s fund.

Once the Stadium car park is full – and we expect it to be on Sunday – then parking in the vicinity of Owlerton is at a premium and at last year’s PLRC, for example, many frustrated motorists went home with tickets.

We don’t want that to happen this Sunday.

So arrangements have been made for additional secure parking opposite Sheffield Wednesday’s football ground on a 500-space site owned by the Wednesdayite supporters group. The entrance is bang opposite Hillsborough on the city-bound carrieageway of Penistone Road.

The charge will be £3 – but here’s the good news, Wednesdayite will donate EVERY PENNY raised back to Ricky’s fund in what is yet another fantastic gesture.

The Hillsborough site – about half a mile walk away – will open from around 3pm.

Said Ian Hunter from the benefit committee: “We needed to find alternative parking because of the problems drivers have had in the past with big crowds at Owlerton. Wednesdayite’s genture has really knocked us for six and hopefully fans will take advantage of it.”

Motorists travelling from the northern junctions of the M1 will find the car park on their left. Those travelling from the city need to drive straight past Owlerton and past Hillsborough. They will come to a roundabout 200 yards after the ground and then double back to arrive at the entrance which will be clearly signposted.

Normal parking admission at Owlerton will be £2.
