ON THE EVE of British Speedway’s AGM, FluidAir Power Scunthorpe Scorpions have announced their first signing for the 2015 Premier League season – highly-rated Finnish Under-21 Champion Nike Lunna.

Lunna, who celebrated his 18th birthday in September, has been on the Scunthorpe promotion’s radar for the last year.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “He comes highly recommended by Joonas Kylmakorpi (the top Finnish speedway rider in recent years and four-times World Longtrack Champion) and also a couple of Elite League promoters.

“We’ve followed Nike’s progress over the last year, and we got him over to Scunthorpe during the summer. He was so fast around the outside line.

“I also saw him at action in the World Under-21 championship round at Leicester and was impressed with him that night as well. He really went for it.

“He’s a raw talent, but definitely a talent. I think he’s going to be absolutely awesome. I think out fans are going to be blown away by him; the way that he rides he’s going to be a crowd pleaser. Plus he’s got a fantastic haircut!

“We’re looking to put together a Premier League team that the Scunthorpe public can really get behind, and I’m delighted that Nike is the first piece in the jigsaw”, Godfrey concluded.
