Tonight’s the night!
FLUIDAIR POWER Scunthorpe Scorpions stage the first of their two home Play-Off semi-final group matches at the Eddie Wright Raceway tonight (Friday, 7.30pm), entertaining reigning league champions Somerset Rebels.
It’s the same two teams involved as the epic 2012 play-off final, which the Scorpions won by a point on aggregate, and tonight represents the biggest meeting at the Eddie Wright Raceway since that night.
The Scorpions are very keen to collect all three points from the meeting, following a disappointing 35-57 defeat at Ipswich last night (Thursday) in their play-off opener, during which Dane Nicolai Klindt was forced to pull out with a scaphoid injury.
Scunthorpe’s team for tonight will be revealed during the course of the day, with a possible last-minute surprise.
Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “The play-offs are an exciting time for the town, as well as the club.
“We urge as many people as possible to get along tonight, to get behind the lads. They do appreciate it, and it does make a difference.
“It’s a huge night, and we need a big result to keep alive our dream of regaining the Premier League championship we won two years ago.”
