FLUIDAIR POWER Scunthorpe Scorpions are looking to banish the away day blues at Workington this evening (Sunday, 7.30pm).

The Scorpions have only scored points from two out of nine away Premier League matches in 2014. They took a maximum of eight points from their two visits to Sheffield, but have come away from every other track empty handed.

The most recent away disappointments have been defeats at Redcar (40-50) and Glasgow (37-53).

However, there is a belief that Workington’s large sweeping Derwent Park circuit could suit the Scorpions.

Team manager Dave Peet said: “It’s a strange one at the moment. We are dominating at home, but we definitely need to improve our away performances.

“We had a bit of bad luck at Redcar, but Glasgow was just a poor performance.

“It is important we get some points out of the last five away fixtures to consolidate our place in the top six.

“We all like it around Workington so we should have a clearer picture of where we are at the end of that meeting.

“The meetings which have already taken place are done and dusted. We are now going to go forward and look at the positives.”

Teams for tonight:

Workington Comets: 1. Josh Grajczonek, 2. Kyle Howarth, 3. Rene Bach. 4. Mason Compton, 5. Ricky Wells, 6. Nicki Barrett (guest), 7. Nathan Greaves (guest).

FluidAir Power Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Nicolai Klindt, 2. Thomas Jørgensen, 3. Ashley Birks, 4. Josh Auty, 5. Ryan Douglas (pictured), 6. Matt Williamson, 7. David Howe.

* The new date for the Scunthorpe Scorpions vs Peterborough Panthers Premier League meeting – rained off on Friday evening – is Friday, September 5th (7.30pm).

* The Scunthorpe Stags National League side recommence their fixtures with a visit to Kent on Monday evening.
