The week ahead
BOTH the FluidAir Power Scunthorpe Scorpions and Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Stags are involved in away fixtures this week.
The Scorpions travel to local rivals Sheffield in a Premier League fixture on Thursday (June 12, 7.45pm), while Stags are making the long journey to Plymouth on Saturday (June 14) to face the Devon Demons. The fixture is a National League double-header, featuring the Cradley Heathens in the first half and the Stags in the second half. The first meeting starts at 1.30pm.
The Scorpions have won twice already at Sheffield this year, and including two wins in late 2013, have actually won their last four meetings at Owlerton.
Promoter Rob Godfrey said: “There’s been some cracking meetings between the two clubs in 2014, and it promises to be another one. Of course, we’d love to win at Sheffield for a third time in the same season – that would be unbelievable.”
The next action at the Eddie Wright Raceway is on Friday, June 20 (7.30pm), with the Scorpions facing the Ipswich Witches.
* There are also new dates for a couple of rained off Scunthorpe Stags away meetings. The Stags travel to Cradley Heath on Thursday, June 24 in the first half of a double-header, and then Stoke on Saturday, June 28.
