EXCITING young British rider Connor Mountain is the latest rider to be announced for the Ben Fund Bonanza at Scunthorpe’s Eddie Wright Raceway on Saturday, March 14th (2pm).

Mountain, who has linked up with Newcastle for the forthcoming Championship season, is pleased to support the event with vital money to be raised for the Speedway Riders’ Benevolent Fund for injured and disabled riders.

The 22-year-old is the eighth rider to be announced for the traditional fund-raiser with more names set to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Mountain said: “I’m really pleased to be asked to ride in this meeting. I had my first taste of it last season when I was reserve and shared the rides with Ellis (Perks) after someone pulled out the meeting with engine troubles.

“It’s a meeting that does so much for injured riders and I accepted the booking as soon as I was approached.

“It’s the first chance we will get to race as well this season. Practicing and testing is good but there’s nothing like coming to the tapes with three other riders and actually racing.

“You can test stuff and try different set-ups as well with there being not as much pressure in an open meeting like there are in league meetings.

“Hopefully the fans will turn up in numbers and support a great meeting.”

Mountain will be sponsored by Travel Plus for his first full appearance in the Bonanza. The Fund have also secured a full meeting sponsorship with Ian Hunter from Sheffield Windows who will also sponsor Tom Bacon for the main event.

Ben Fund organiser Paul Ackroyd said: “We are very grateful that Ian Hunter has kindly offered to sponsor the event.

“A wide range of sponsorship opportunities remain available providing a great opportunity for businesses to promote their brand.”
