Scorpions look to extend winning sequence

FLUIDAIR POWER Scunthorpe Scorpions will be out to win their third successive meeting, as they entertain the Newcastle Diamonds in League Cup action at the Eddie Wright Raceway this afternoon (Good Friday, 3pm).

Newcastle always provide stiff opposition at the Eddie Wright Raceway, and today’s encounter is a highly-anticipated clash. The Scorpions must win both today and also at Newcastle on Sunday to stand any chance of progressing to the League Cup semi-finals.

Promoter Rob Godfrey said: “The weather forecast is set for sunshine all afternoon. It should be a fantastic afternoon of speedway.

“Last week, we had an absolute belter against Somerset, and there’s every indication that this will be another top class meeting.”

There will be 30 heats of entertainment in total, including a National League fixture between the Scunthorpe Stags and the Mildenhall Fen Tigers.
