Zdenek Holub Action

HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions head to Sheffield Tigers in League Cup action tomorrow evening (Thursday, 7.30pm), where they will be attempting to regain local bragging rights, following a recent home defeat to the Tigers.

It’s the first of two meetings for the Scorpions this week, as they also entertain the Peterborough Panthers at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Sunday, a meeting with a start time of 6.30pm.

Scorpions will go into action without Czech Republic international Zdenek Holub, who landed heavily on his shoulder after a coming together with former Scorpion Michael Palm Toft at Peterborough last Friday.

Promoter Rob Godfrey said: “The good news with Zdenek is that we don’t think anything is broken. But he took a battering and the movement in his shoulder is still restricted at the moment, and he’s ruled out of both of this week’s fixtures.

“The only option we have is to use rider replacement for him. He’s second in our averages, which means everyone can take a ride, while we’ve rejigged the team for the meeting at Sheffield, so that R/R is at No 2 and Nicolai Klindt is at No 5, with Alex Davies and Ryan Douglas partnered together at 3 & 4.

“We’ll go to Sheffield with an open mind. There’s no doubt that the Tigers have a strong side this season, but we know Josh (Auty) and Ryan can fly around the place, while Nicolai rode for them last year.”

Expected teams for tomorrow:

Sheffield Tigers: 1. Simon Stead, 2. Dimitri Berge, 3. Kyle Howarth, 4. Josh Bates, 5. Jason Garrity, 6. Richard Hall, 7. Nathan Greaves.

Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Josh Auty, 2. Rider replacement for Zdenek Holub, 3. Alex Davies, 4. Ryan Douglas, 5. Nicolai Klindt, 6. Carl Wilkinson, 7. Josh Bailey.

* Further team news will follow when the preview for Sunday’s Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions vs Peterborough Panthers clash is distributed during the course of Thursday.
