BRITAIN’S Tai Woffinden says a key change to his bike was the key to his success in Stockholm at the weekend.

Scunthorpe-born star Woffinden remains 25-points clear in the world title race with just two rounds remaining – and he could even be crowned champion in Poland this Saturday.

He grabbed a second GP success of the season in the Friends Arena after a hard night of racing which saw him recover from a last place in his opening ride.

Said Woffinden: “I’m just looking at every meeting as an opportunity to pick up points. That’s how it worked out for me in Stockholm.

“I struggled off the start in my first ride but I stayed calm because I knew we could get it right.

“We made quite a big change to the set-up and everything just seemed to fall into place and I started picking up the race wins.

“It was a good meeting and I enjoyed it, of course it was nice to win a GP but consistency is the key for me and it was another step along the path towards my ultimate goal.

“I tried to stay relaxed throughout and I think I achieved that and I was just so pleased to come away with a result like that.

“I was enjoying myself every time I went out on the bike and I think that showed in my performance.

“I come into a meeting and try and score as many points as possible for the first target which is the place in the semis – then when you get to the final you try and win it.

“I didn’t start too well but I just got stuck in. I was thinking about my previous appearances at Stockholm when I was injured on both occasions so it’s nice to be fully fit and do so well.

“This year is going really good for me. After winning the title in 2013 I got a little arrogant within myself and 2014 levelled me again, brought me down to earth.

“It’s a great feeling knowing you can go out there knowing you can put the bike anywhere and it will work for you.”

Woffinden heads to Poland soon to prepare for Saturday’s FST Grupa Brokerska Torun FIM Speedway Grand Prix of Poland.
