THE bottom two teams in the Premier League meet at Scunthorpe’s Eddie Wright Raceway tonight (Friday, 7.30pm), with the FluidAir Power Scunthorpe Scorpions, supported by Henderson Insurance, looking to reduce the gap in the table to the Berwick Bandits to just two points.

Scunthorpe bring in ex-Scorpion Nicolai Klindt as a guest for Zdenek Holub, who is representing the Czech Republic in the semi-final of the Under-21 World Cup this weekend, while they operate the rider replacement facility for the injured Ryan Douglas.

Meanwhile, Berwick have injury problems of their own, with Kevin Doolan & Claus Vissing both ruled out of action. The Bandits are led by former Scorpion Thomas Jorgensen.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey says: “You only have to take one glance at the league table to see the importance of this fixture to both clubs.

“The ideal result for us would be to take the win by enough of a margin to send Berwick home without a single point.

“The Bandits will have different ideas, of course, and a real humdinger of a meeting is in prospect around the best racetrack in the country.”

17-year-old Dane Andreas Lyager is set to make his debut for the Scorpions tonight.

Scunthorpe have not been in action since their 54-38 victory over Newcastle at the Eddie Wright Raceway a fortnight ago, with Theo Pijper (paid 17), Carl Wilkinson (paid 12) and Alex Davies (9) all on form that night. The signing of Lyager pushes Davies into the reserve berth, where he could be a real trump card.

A reminder of the special promotion, which will last to the end of the 2015 season, which sees all accompanied children under the age of 16 admitted for free to home Scorpions’ meetings.

Admission prices for tonight:

Adult: £15.00
Student/OAP: £13.00
Child (16 – 17): £5.00
