FLUIDAIR POWER Scunthorpe Scorpions, supported by Henderson Insurance, host the Berwick Bandits at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Friday (7.30pm) in one of the key battles to determine who will finish bottom of the 2015 Premier League.

Following the Bandits’ 41-42 home defeat to Sheffield on Saturday, there is now a three-cornered fight between Berwick (on 17 points), Redcar (15) and Scunthorpe (12). The Scorpions have four remaining home fixtures, compared to three for both of their rivals.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey says: “We’ve been saying for a few weeks that we want to avoid finishing bottom, because no-one wants to finish in that position.

“It looked like a straight shootout between Redcar and us, but Berwick have been brought into the battle after losing at home to Sheffield, especially as the Bandits have another tough home meeting against Somerset this Saturday.

“If we can take three points for the win on Friday, and send Berwick home without a single point, it could go a long way to making sure we get off the bottom before the end of the season.”

Following last week’s postponement against Redcar, the clash against the Bandits is now set to mark the debut of Scorpions’ new signing, 17-year-old Dane Andreas Lyager.
