FLUIDAIR POWER Scunthorpe Scorpions, supported by Henderson Insurance, will be looking for big performances from reserves Alex Davies & Nike Lunna, as they seek to move off the bottom of the Premier League table, with a victory over the Redcar Bears by seven points or more in a vital clash at the Eddie Wright Raceway tonight (Friday, 7.30pm).

Davies (pictured) drops to reserve, following the acquisition of 17-year-old Dane Andreas Lyager, who is set to make his debut for the Scorpions tonight.

Last week, Davies scored 22 points from his two meetings for the club (13 at Sheffield and 9 at Scunthorpe), suggesting he could be a real trump card for the Scorpions for the remainder of the season.

Scunthorpe will use rider replacement for Ryan Douglas – out for the rest of the season with a broken leg and dislocated hip after crashing at Sheffield last week – but otherwise track six of their own riders, in contrast to the Bears, who will field three guests for tonight’s big meeting.

Scunthorpe’s other new signing, Zdenek Holub won another round of the Czech Under-21 Championship at the weekend (his third round win in the 2015 championship) and the 19-year-old, who already has many female admirers on the Eddie Wright Raceway terraces, will be hoping to follow up on his excellent paid 10 score in the 54-38 victory over Newcastle last Friday.

Theo Pijper, recently a father again, and club stalwart Carl Wilkinson also weighed in very heavily against Newcastle, and repeat performances would be hugely welcome tonight.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “This is a massive fixture for both clubs. There is no way we want to lose tonight, because we definitely don’t want to finish bottom.

“Redcar have quite a good record here over the last few seasons, but we need to send the Bears packing tonight.

“The racing is almost certainly going to be top draw, while we need the people of the town to come along and really get behind the lads. In short, it’s going to be a belter.”

A reminder of the special promotion, which will last to the end of the 2015 season, which sees all accompanied children under the age of 16 admitted for free to home Scorpions’ meetings.
