FLUIDAIR POWER Scunthorpe Scorpions aim to be stood on the top step of the rostrum come the end of the Premier League Fours at Peterborough on Sunday (2.30pm).

Promoter Rob Godfrey believes the club can add to their solitary piece of silverware at Premier League level – the 2012 league title.

The Scorpions are almost certainly going to be without Josh Auty, who is 90% sure to be missing, after having his appendix removed two weeks ago. If Auty is missing, then David Howe (pictured) will step up from reserve into the team proper while in-form Dane Thomas Jorgensen will come in at reserve.

“We’ll give the fours a good go”, said Godfrey. “It’s on our kind of track. We did very well in our Knockout Cup clash at Peterborough earlier in the season.

“It’s a blow that Josh is likely to be out.

“But we’ll still have a trump card at reserve. With Josh, that would have been David. Without Josh, David moves up and our reserve becomes Thomas.

“We have the right sort of team for this competition – a solid team who can all score points. It’s all about which team clicks on the day. And you have to keep on scoring – you can’t avoid last places or exclusions.”

If the Scorpions finish in the top two of their eight-heat semi-final against hosts Peterborough, Somerset and Newcastle, then they will qualify for the 12-heat final, which will decide who wins the 2014 Premier League Fours.
